The law firm Ward & Rider Solicitors was founded in 1948 by two ex-servicemen, Mr Norman Ward LLB and Mr William Henry Rider LLB. A newspaper article of the time stated that both men were from Coventry and were "born o'er the bridge", which is an old Coventry saying for people who were born in the Foleshill area of the City. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the firm in 2008, The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of the City presented a "memorial plaque" in recognition of the firm's 60 years of service to the people of Coventry and the Midlands.
